javasoft

I am trying to remove a key called 'javasoft' from my computer. I cannot
delete it using regedit. I believe the registry maybe corrupt from a
de-install of the java runtime module. The new version will not install
because of the reference left behind. I've tried a registry fix program but
it will not remove the reference either.

Reinstall the exsisting version and then go for a upgraded/new version.

I am already running the most current version. The version of XP on my
installation disk is older than the one I am running. This would mean that I
need to format my hard drive. I'm trying to avoid this.

Try the 'Windows Installer CleanUp' utility.
Download at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
After download:
* click file 'Windows Installer CleanUp' (may take a minute to load)
* at the open window, click 'Next' , 'Next' again, click 'Finish'
* click Start > Programs > Windows Install Clean Up
* scroll & highlight your application in question
* click 'Remove' then OK
* click 'Exit'
Note:
You'll need to reinstall the application again
