Ive just started getting this error message when Im visiting the web file
hosting site Megaupload. Ive reset my IE to default settings as with my
virtual machine access within program access and defaults. How or do I need
to activate my java scripting? My virus scanners have detected nothing. Have
I accidently removed a file when I unistalled a program?
Ive narrowed done the problem to certain sites
like Megaupload and Rapidshare (web hosting file sharing sites), where you
have to wait for a countdown timer or an alpha numeric code to appear and
enter, to begin the download process. In the case of Rapidshare, once youve
clicked on 'free' download, the next page appears with what you expect to be
the alpha numeric code to enter, instead you get the explicit instruction to
'Enable Java Script'. Im running Nortons Firewall with AVG antivirus, on
Windows XP Home. Ive reset my IE to the lowest possible security settings,
turned off Windows FireWall, deactivated popup blockers, and even used system
restore to a full week prior, and still the same result, 'Enable Java
Script'. Is this is a new security update that disables Java? Is this a
'service' that accidently turn off? Is there another way to switch on Java
Scripting? Or do I have to use my Windows XP install disk and repair files?
My question may have been answered on a radio talk show. The speaker
explained that PC owners ( a great majority if not all) using IE may now be
experiencing an array of problems on websites and that it is based on another
legal dispute (order) directed at Microsoft. Microsoft version of Java
(Virtual Machine) or the ActiveX associated may no longer work on these sites
( something to that effect, Its very confusing).
And that a recent update from Microsoft complies to this order. So for now
when you visit these sites you are then asked to download an ActiveX to view
the site completly. The ActiveX is from Microsoft ( I think? I may have not
understood it completly).
I know this sounds dangerous but there was mention that Microsoft is
planning something.
Now in support of this discovery, I contacted a friend with two hard drives
on their system. One drive is constantly updated from Microsoft and the other
is two months behind. What do you think happened when I asked this person to
go to the sites in question?
The updated drive recieved the same message as I get ('activate
Javascript-active scripting'), and the drive that is not up to date had no
issues, but and this is important a dialoge box kept popping up asking to
download an ActiveX from this site, ALWAYS CLICK NO OR CANCEL! ( this could
become a big security issue)
Ive compiled these issues from other sites, If someone can help me with this
problem It would be greatly appreciated.
