"activate java scripting"

Ive just started getting this error message when Im visiting the web file
hosting site Megaupload. Ive reset my IE to default settings as with my
virtual machine access within program access and defaults. How or do I need
to activate my java scripting? My virus scanners have detected nothing. Have
I accidently removed a file when I unistalled a program?

More details on the problem. Ive narrowed done the problem to certain sites
like Megaupload and Rapidshare (web hosting file sharing sites), where you
have to wait for a countdown timer or an alpha numeric code to appear and
enter, to begin the download process. In the case of Rapidshare, once youve
clicked on 'free' download, the next page appears with what you expect to be
the alpha numeric code to enter, instead you get the explicit instruction to
'Enable Java Script'. Im running Nortons Firewall with AVG antivirus, on
Windows XP Home. Ive reset my IE to the lowest possible security settings,
turned off Windows FireWall, deactivated popup blockers, and even used system
restore to a full week prior, and still the same result, 'Enable Java
Script'. Is this is a new security update that disables Java? Is this a
'service' that accidently turn off? Is there another way to switch on Java
Scripting? Or do I have to use my Windows XP install disk and repair files?
