java + IE6 + XP SP2

Hi I am running Java platform 2, IE6 and Windows XP with service pack 2.
Whenever I run a Java Applet it works great until I want to shut it down -
then IE6 freezes and I can only get out of it wit CTRL+ALT+DEL.

I have been to MS support and have re-downloaded all of the components and
updates but am still getting same problem.

Any ideas????????????????????????

Thanks

It seems problem is only with the Yahoo games applets. I have tryed all 3 of
your links and followed the steps but am still haing the same problem.

Let me know if you have any other ideas.

Thanks,

Did you try the help pages there?

http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/games/games-09.html

Also, when I tried Bejeweled2 I got a prompt to download an ActiveX control
called PopCap so perhaps you need it as well (or an updated version of it.)

Do you have any specific examples you can give?

FWIW here is one which seems to work with Sun Java 1.5.0

http://games.yahoo.com/games/downloads/bo.html

Have you tried using the Java console for clues?

BTW what is "Java platform 2"? Perhaps you should be checking
with Sun for support instead?

Robert,

Thanks for trying to help but no luck. Have contacted Yahoo but no reply.
Have contacted sun but since I am not a developper no help.

I don't have problems with games like Bejeweled that run in the main Yahoo
page, only when applet windows come up - and then its only when I close them
that IE6 freezes up.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions.
