Business Objects problem with Sun Java and IE6

OK

I think this problem is pretty unique as it's a bespoke application.
Basically the web report control panel for Business Objects states a version
of Sun Java (1.4.2_03), however because of sandbox exploits etc. we can't
really be using this version of Java.

It doesn't appear to work right off within IE if the Java version is above
1.4.2_03 it doesn't load the applet - however if we install Firefox and run
it, then remove Firefox IE works fine, I think it's eomthing to do with the
applet caching after initialisation, but we coudl do without the Mozilla step
really.

Any ideas please? More info required etc. just post back and I will provide.

Platform: XP, SP1 w/ latest hotfixes
Version of IE: IE6 sp1

That version of Java needs to be uninstalled because of security holes.
Uninstall it and upgrade to 1.5.06 or higher.
