IE6 and Sun Java

P

Paul Woodsford

Java seems to be working OK BUT, if I go IE-Tools-Sun Java Console it does
not start and gives an error message that Sun Java is not the Default Java
for IE6, but it is the only Java selected shown in IE-Tools-Internet
Options-Advanced.
How can I correct this?

Hi Paul,
Did scan your computer against malware/viruses.
Uninstall the Java and install the latest version from the
http://www.sun.com and see if it will solve your issue, sometimes if a files
being corrupt during installtion can result in this behavior.
Hope this helps

What JRE version is displayed here (e.g., 1.5.0_06)? Assuming it's checked,
uncheck it, reboot, re-check it and reboot. Any better?

IE Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Microsoft VM:

Is this section available? Are any options /other than/ "JIT compiler for
virtual machine enabled" checked?

At this point, I'd suggest Repairing or Reinstalling IE:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378 (If you upgraded to WinXP SP2, you
can reinstall IE by uninstalling/reinstalling SP2.)

NB: If by chance you're currently running IE7 Beta2, do NOT attempt the
above without first uninstalling IE7 Beta2, rebooting *twice* and confirming
that IE6 SP1 is running OK, your problem aside.

Hi:

Have you tried going to Control Panel and clicking on the Java icon to
open the Java Control Panel? If not, and the Java Icon appears then open and
click on the Java Tab and go to the bottom one listed as Java Applications
Runtime Settings. Click on View and expand the screen to where you can tell
if there is a check in Enabled. If not, then place a check in it etc.

Hi Paul:

This website looks as if it might be of benefit to you:
http://www.helpbytes.co.uk/javaproblems.php

Hopefully it is.... There was a guy who used to answer Java problems within
the MS Newsgroups about a year or so ago that was fantastic and about the
best that I had ever seen. I looked through some of my referenced replies
that I save occasionally for possible future use, but could not find any
related to him.

Anyway lots of luck!
