Japanese language bar

I am using XP with the latest Service Packs and Microsoft Word 2002.
I have just installed Japanese IME input and I am trying to use this in
Microsoft Word.
When I switch to Japanese language and "Restore the Language Bar" then I get
two different Language Bars when I am on the Desktop and when I am in Word !
When I am on the Desktop, I have tabs on the Language Bar such as "Input
Mode", "Conversion Mode", "IME Pad" and "Tools". But when I go into Word then
the Language Bar reduces to just a few tabs. The result is that I cannot
switch to Hiragana Input Mode in Word and therefore cannot do Japanese input.
What can I do to get the extended Language Bar in Word ?
Please help ... Kozo

SP2 installs with "broken" support for foreign/other languages. A patch is
now available at Windows Update for those who use IME and MUI:

An update is available for language interface packs to improve support for
Windows XP Service Pack 2
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883921

SYMPTOMS
After you install a Microsoft Windows XP language interface pack (LIP) on a
computer that is running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed, you
experience the following symptoms after you upgrade that computer to Windows
XP Service Pack 2 (SP2):

.. Some of the user interface items that were localized in the language
interface pack revert to the English language or to the original language of
your Windows XP installation.

.. New features in Windows XP SP2, such as the Security Center, appear in
English or in the original language of your Windows XP installation.

You expect Windows XP SP2 features to appear in the language that you
configured by using the language interface pack.

CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the language interface pack does not include
Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) files that support new features that
are included in Windows XP SP2.

Andre,
Thank you for trying to help out, but when I right-click on the "un-desired"
version of the language bar in Word (the one without "Conversion Mode") there
is no Option called "Close Language Bar". Clicking "Minimize" does not help
either.

Robear,
Thank you for trying to help out.
When I went to the http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883921 there were no
Japanese option (many other languages but no Japanese).
I have now installed all Windows Updates to SP2 and the issue continues.
I have also realized that when I switch to another user on the same PC then
there are no problems. Both language bars on the Desktop and in Word are the
same with the "Input Mode", "Conversion Mode", "IME Pad" and "Tools" included.
Only when I switch to the other user (where Japanese language capability is
actually needed) then I have the "two version issue".
Thank you for your help.
