Greetings,
I had a problem crop up on my notebook computer running Windows XP
Home a couple of months ago. In the dialog box that opens when I go
to open a file in programs such as Notebook, Internet Explorer, or
anything but the Microsoft Office applications (in which things seem
to work properly), the files and folders no longer appear
alphabetically. If I right click and sort the list by filename,
everything appears normally, but if I navigate to another folder, that
folder is all out of order. If I then navigate back to the previous
folder which I just sorted, it is all out of order again as well.
This never used to happen before, and it makes finding files very
awkward.
I really do not want to have to scrub my installation and re-install
everything from scratch... it would be a gargantuan task. Is there a
way to correct this.
