Open/Save Dialog Defaults

How do you set the defaults for these dialog boxes, such as how the files are
sorted and such? Somehow, my open and save dialog boxes has went heywire
recently for all programs using the "Common Dialogs", sorting the fires in
such a way were I can't figure out what criteria it's using then utter
randomness. Changing the sort order doesn't work as it is lost the next time
I open or save something.

You have probably changed the default sort order for Windows.
Open Exploirer to the "My Computer" folder,
Set your details View settings to sort as you like,
and click the Tools menu, Options, View tab.
then click the button for "Apply to All Folders" button.
There is also a checkbox to 'remember each folder's view settings' if you
prefer to make them different

Didn't work; I set it to sort by type, went into Photoshop and tried opening
some files, the sort order is still messed up.

Ah, that fixed it, thanks! Althought it looks like I will be changing a few
customizations back as well, but that'll be nothing to worry about. Thanks
again!
