I think I posted this in the wrong forum previously... sorry.
Greetings,
This just happened a week or so ago. I have noticed that every time I go
into the open file dialog box from an application such as NotePad and many
other applications, that the file list shown seems to be shown in what
appears to be the physical order in which they are stored on the hard drive.
I'll call this the "unsorted" order, which makes it very difficult to find a
file in a large list of files/folders.
Every time I go to a new folder, it appears "unsorted" and I have to right
click and request it to be sorted by name (or whatever). The sort setting
never seems to be retained like it was previously.
For example, I go to open a file and am initially placed in "Folder 1". I
right click and select "Sort By Name"
I then navigate to "Folder 2". It appears "unsorted", so I right click and
select "Sort By Name".
If I go back to "Folder 1", it reverts back to the "unsorted" order.
Interestingly enough, the file open dialog that appears from Word or Excel
(2003) does not exhibit this behaviour.
Is there a way, short of reinstalling everything on this notebook computer
to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
