Item stuck in outbox

Hi

A friend of mine has an odd problem in OL.

He has a message in his outbox with a large attachment - it failed when
trying to send it and now it cannot even be deleted.

He says that his PC is now running much slower since this happened.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions on how to remove the item from the
outbox.
