Emails stuck in outbox

Trying to solve a mystery.
My neighbor uses Outlook 2002 on an Windows XP PC

Never any email issues until Thursday, 4/16/2009

On Thursday he had Verizon Fios installed but also DID NOT cancel his
Comcast Cable.
Now when sending an email, it gets stuck in the outbox.

Also when testing account settings all processes are completed but then a
final message says
failed..check email address.

Can send/receive to himself with no issue but not to someone else.

any ideas?

I would double check what server address he is using for the SMTP server.
Remember, if he moved over to Verizon network, Comcast may not allow him to
use their SMTP server because he is on a different providers network. It is
quite possible that he will have to change the SMTP server address to
something that Verizon supplies.

For whatever the reason his email is now working.

It appears Verizon fixed something on their end.

Gets Verizon,Comcast and another ISP emails.

Thanks for the reply.
