I have a new XP installation. When I want to open files(.doc, .xls,.txt, etc)
using the left click, Explorer waits 2-5 minutes before it activates the
program. The same with the right click, then the OPEN WITH takes 2-5 minutes.
If on the other hand I open WORD and access the file using the WORD menu,
access is immediate. The same with EXCEL, MATHEMATICA, NOTEPAD. WINDOWS was
reinstalled anew and the problem reappeared as I thought that QUICKTIME was
causing the glitch. Where can I address and (how) the registry to see if the
list of extensions is not corrupt when I open files in EXPLORER? I do not
want to install the system completely as it doesn't solve the problem. Where
is the corruption?
