Issues with VPN

I've got the following issue

We are trying to setup VPn to allow one of our support company access to one server on our network. They will only use Microsoft VPN. We have confiured a Windows 2000 SP4 server with VPn access onto it. We created firewall rules to allow port 1723 and IP protocol 47 both incoming and outgoing. We can connect to the server by dial up with no issues however when we try to connect from a computervia the internet (this is pointing to the same external address of the VPN server) we get the time out error on user name and password

We have run the PPTPCLNT and PPTPSRV software, this reports no errors,we are getting GRE packets being passed thru.

Can any body help

What is the error you are seeing? Any event logs?

Is your VPN server accessible from the external computer?
