VPN Connection will not connect anymore

I have a windows 2003 server with two network cards. One is directly
connected to the internet and the other to the private lan. I had vpn
connections setup and working and then about a week ago I can no longer get
connected. I have tried re-setting up rras but to no avail. I have used the
pptpclnt and pptpsrv apps to test that nothing is blocking port 1723 or gre
and both test fine. When I try to connect I get either error 800 unable to
establish a connection or error 718 the connection was terminated because the
remote computer did not respond in a timely manner. If I use netstat on the
server while trying to connect it shows the pptp connection. Checking the
security event logs shows the vpn user logging on and then logging off. I'm
really stumped, might it be a ppp time out problem? or what else should I be
checking to help resolve this issue.

Thanks,
-Scott

I cannot access the VPN from the Lan. I have followed most of the steps on
the pages mentioned but am still having the same problems.

The server is a gateway with two nics on connected directly to the internet
with a static ip the other is attached to the internal lan, as stated in my
first post.

Thanks,
