is using ctrl-alt-del to shut down computer harmful?

turning off the PC using the Power button can be used only in cases when you
are hard hit by crash or t-shooting. when you hit the Power button, then you
start the PC later, it shows the message "The System Did Not Shut Down
Properly"

the 78-yr old user will find it more confusing on what to do?

CTRL-ALT-DEL is OK - if the 78-yr old be taught the proper way to shut down
the PC using the START button, it's better - she is still learnable.

sad to say that Vista developers did not consider the senior citizens when
developing this Vista - the skills transitions / migration from 2000 - XP -
Vista is too much for senior citizens to be more confused - in short - Vista
continously confuse the already confused memory of seniors.

Hi,

Check your BIOS settings and see if you have a "soft off" option available.
If so, then she can use the power button as if she actually clicked Start
shutdown.
