Is there a way to export my rules to a new computer?

I recently installed Office 2003. I imported my old pst file into the new
computer install of office/outlook. My rules did not comeover with the
import.

How do I move the rules...

thanks

You can export your Rules here: Tools menu > Rules & Alerts > Options >
Export. The same path on the other machine should lead you to an Import
option also

You can move the rules in one of two ways. The first is to use the export
feature of the Rules Wizard. The second, easier way, is to NOT EXPORT YOUR
PST. Just copy the original PST to the new PC and reuse it.

Will this not cause the "not on this machine" rule to be set and so
prevent new rules from working?

Sometimes yes. I've seen some rules work, however.

The exporting seems to be a nice feature. However, on a completely new
computrer with a freshly installed Office 2003 neither the Rules & Alters or
the create rule option appear. Looking through all available options, I was
not able to find it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

So it's nowhere on the fully-expanded Tools menu, the "Rules and Alerts"
button does not appear on the Advanced toolbar, and pressing ALT-T-L does
nothing?

I have the same problem but even new rules are set "not on this machine"
anyone knows how to correct this?

I had previously posted this question, with no reply:
************
I have just gone through a reinstall in a new system and have picked up my
data files. To my surprise that does not include the Rules and Alerts or
Signatures that I had previously set up. Where do they usually live? :)
************
So, for some reason, picking up the pst file does not always transfer the
Rules and Alerts and the Signatures. Is that correct?

Barrie.

Ive been having the same problem with Office 2007: the rules in the PST file
dissappear when the PST file is copied to another computer and opened there:
the most important rule is the rule to move messages from IMAP to my inbox.
Does anyone know of a way to transfer these rules automatically? I sync my
outlook.pst file between my desktop and laptop, and need to keep this rule
active on both!
Thanks!

Have you set up an email account yet? Rules wont show if there isn't any
account from which to receive email

I have read through this material with interest because I have the same
problem, and still do not see the solution here.
I have just done a clean install of Windows 7 (ugh!) and reinstalled my copy
of Office 2007 from scratch. I "told" Outlook where to look for the pst file
and all mymessages appeared but No Rules and Alerts.
The simple question is "What do I do now?" :)

For the old rules to be available, the .pst file must be the default store
(= data file) for the profile, the one whose Inbox gets all the new
messages. You can change the default in the File | Data File Management
dialog. After you do that, you'll need to restart Outlook.
