is there a way to disable objects from printing in color?

i know how to do it with greyscale printing, but is there a way to have a
colored object (like a background) not print in color printing mode?

You'd have to delete the background. I'd definitely do that on a *copy* of
my presentation, though!

Depending on your needs, a macro could hide or unhide a certain shape or shapes
in a presentation. Care to describe your needs in more detail?
