Is there a startup control under System Information?

I want to set which programs to load and not to load at startup. With
Windows 98 before, you can set that under System Information, but with
XP, there is no such option. Many programs automatically starts when
Windows boots up, and I can't find where to turn that off in every
single one of them.

Same as win98.
Start, run, type in: msconfig, hit enter, startup tab.
Always go into the programs options or settings first and see if they have
an option to not start when windows starts. If they have no option to turn
off, then use msconfig.

Windows 98 was using MSCONFIG to do this. MSCONFIG is also available in XP.

On each program you don't want to start automatically, check its
Options to see if it has the choice not to start. Many can easily
and best be stopped that way. If that doesn't work, run MSCONFIG
from the Start | Run line, and on the Startup tab, uncheck the
programs you don't want to start automatically.

This worked the same way in Windows 98.
