XP Home, IE 6.0.2800. If I don't allow pictures to load on a webpage I can
get a specific individual picture to load by right clicking the placemarker
and selecting 'Show Pictures'. Is the converse functionality available any
way, ie if a particuarly large picture is trying to load which I don't want
can I cancel just it in any way without stopping the entire page load.
Thanks.

Open Internet Explorer

Tools
Internet Options
Advanced tab
scroll down the list to the Multimedia section

untick the Show pictures box

Not AFAIK. The best you can do is press Esc. (Click on Stop.)
Sometimes that only stops whatever was currently loading and allows
more of the page to continue loading (e.g. the next frame.)
