I used to have my entire data fie for my ooutlook, I would archive to it
everyday, leaving only the day's work on the personal folder located on the
CPU hard drive, there was a problem with the community power the other day
and after that I could not retrive my data from the external hard drive. I
have tried and tried, nut I have not been able to get it, when I try to open
it by using file/open/data file it gives a message: archive.pst has errors. I
used the scanpst.exe and it tells me that there are errors and it appears to
fix them, but I keep getting the same error when I try to open it, also I
made the mistake of responding yes, when the system told that the old .bat
would be replace, so I am now terrified that I lost all my data, I had e-mail
messages dating back to 1999, my data was huge and extrmelly important, could
some one help me?

My e-mail is (e-mail address removed)

Thanks.

If you had a power outage its possible that the HD became corrupted and also
any data files.
Try runing chkdsk on the hard drive (see win Help)
then run scanpst.exe if it finds / fixes error run it again until it reports
no err's
(All with OL closed)
PS A UPS may be a good idea

Thanks, it did not work! is there a software that I could buy in order to
retreive these .pst files, I know that Norton has a feature that you can run
and it will find files that were erased, either by mistake or because the
user wanted to, do you know of any that I could use to find the erased .pst,
I think that aside from the power, I also got nervous and I perhaps did
something terribly wrong, I cannot recall.

Thanks.

If these data are so extremely important, then I am sure you make
regular backups. Restoring from the latest backup will not restore the
messages since the backup date, but everything else before that.

You did'nt mention deleting, you stated your archive file has errors.
If you deleted a file it would be in your recycle bin.
Removing a data file, within OL doesnt delete it.
Creating a new archive, within OL, does not ovewrite the existing one.
What *.pst files are on your external HD & what are their sizes?
