Is clean uninstall/install ie6 sp1 possible?

Den

Have continued to upgrade ie from ie4-ie6 sp1. Now ie
integrated with operating system <<Restore the previous
windows configeration>> is no longer an option - so can no
longer uninstall all previous versions and clean install
latest version.

Active Set Up Log suggests ie4 files may have not been
properly uninstalled.

1. How do you completely uninstall ie6 sp1
2. Should <<Restore the previous windows configeration>>
no longer be available or is this part of the problem?

Any help most welcome.

Search For Files named 'ie.inf' (without quotes..!!!). u might need to enable 'show hidden files' in TOOLS 'view'/'folder options' in Windows Explorer. u also might need to insert the respective Windows cd in he system before doing this.
Once found...right click on each 'ie.inf' (in case of more than one).....and left click on INSTALL. once thru...restart the system.

Ashish,

Many thanks.

1. Not sure what 'ie.inf' refers to? Have found
one 'ie.inf' file. If search 'i*.inf' this produces a
number of additional possibilities
i.e. 'Ie4setup.inf', 'ie4files.inf', 'ie_extra.inf' ...
about 20-30 possibilities.

2. If these are intended too - what key words can be used
in <<Containing Text>> to identify the precise
'ie.inf' files?

<<Once found...right click on each 'ie.inf' (in case of
more than one).....and left click on INSTALL. once
thru...restart the system.>>

I may have misunderstood you ... this suggests you are
reinstalling old files that are already on the system??

- Is its possible to completely remove/uninstall these
files and do a clean install of ie6 sp1 from a CD?

Many thanks,
Den

Ashish,

Many thanks - very helpful (replying again as reply [&
original message] accidently deleted). Please clarify:

1. Have located single 'ie.inf'. 'i*.inf' generates
potentially 20-30 files such
as 'ie4files.inf', 'ie_extra.inf' etc. etc.

- Is 'ie.inf' the only file intended and, if not, is there
a keyword for <<Containing Text>> to pinpoint all files
concerned?

2. <<Once found...right click on each 'ie.inf' (in case of
more than one).....and left click on INSTALL. once
thru...restart the system.>>

This appears to relate to re-installing existing files
only?? Aim, if possible, is remove/uninstall existing
files and then do clean install from CD - is this possible
by deleting/removing 'ie.inf' files?

Many thanks for your help,
Den
