IRQ sharing - conflict

K

kimiraikkonen

I see the same IRQs for more than a device at the same times described
as "SHARING".

For ex: irq 16 ----> "geforce video card" and "Intel USB Universal Host
Controller 24C2" under Windows.

So, how do i know exacty this IRQ sharings are not about "CONFLICT"s?

Please reply...

regards.

Because they don't show any problems! :0)

Seriously, IRQ sharing is needed these days because there are so many
devices in use and not enough IRQ's to serve them all.

If there is a conflict, the system will notify you that there is a problem.
At best you'll get an error message about it, at worst it'll be a BSOD. But
all are fixable.

FWIW - I don't like having my video card on the same IRQ as anything else so
you might want to research how to change the IRQ's for your vid card or USB
devices.
