IR not working

Daniel

Hi

I have a Compaq evo800v, with 256 meg ram and a 40 gig hard drive (18 gig
free)
My OS is XP SP2.

My IR has stopped working and when I go into Event viewer and double click
on the error I get this message.
"The Infrared Monitor service depends on the following nonexistant service:
irda"
What does this mean, how can get it back?

thanks

Daniel

As Microsoft so delightfully put it, Irda support has been fixed. (When
it's broken for so long, that people develop workarounds that break
when it's fixed, then there is a problem....)

You should have a Wireless link entry in control panel? Have you looked
at it's settings?

What application are you using that is looking at the Irda port? Is
this dialout via a phone, or a Palm or similar?

There is no entry in my control panel for IR or any other type of wireless
device.
I am trying to use my mobile phone.
In device manager it says the IrDA is okay, but it is not, I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling, it seems to reinstall okay but still does not
work.
Any ideas?
