Ipod touch won't sync

Hi
I'm having real trouble trying to get itunes to recognise my ipod touch
which I connect via USB. I'm running windows xp professional and I could used
to see my ipod in itunes. I have tried reinstalling itunes to no avail. I
have tried deleting the upper and lower filters from my registry (as
described in knowledge base). Does anybody know why this is happening? Also
sometimes my SMART interactive whiteboard does not work properly when
connected via my usb port.
Hope someone can help!!

Some devices get misidentified and will appear in the USB category
as "Unknown Device". However it's more likely that your devices on
the USB 2.0 Controller/Hub are overloading. There is both a limit on
Bandwidth and Power consumption. Try unplugging all your USB
peripherals and just insert the iPod. If it is recognized and functions
then your USB 2.0 hardware is likely being overloaded with all USB
peripherals connected.

Thanks for that, I only have my ipod plugged in and no other devices. In
device manager it recognises that the ipod is plugged in to the usb port, and
the ipod works with no problems on my wifes laptop that runs vista.

Thanks, but I only have my ipod plugged in. In device manager it shows that
it recognises that the ipod is plugged in, but it still doesn't show in
itunes or any other software that will sync an ipod. It all works perfectly
on my wifes laptop which runs vista.

Hi,
In a similar vein, my touch connects as long as most USB devices are
disconnected, it will even sync however as soon as I move the mouse it drops
off. This is with either a serial mouse or even worse with a USB mouse. It
did occasionally work with the serial mouse. I've removed and reloaded the
latest Itunes and poked at just about every system check upgrade, check you
name it, I think I've tried it.
The Itouch works fine with my laptop (all my music is on the desktop).

Is it ever annoying, anybody want to suggest anything (except ask Apple,
they're useless).
Thanks

apple = crap
there just has to be a reason why a company can be in business for 20 years
and still have less than 2% of the market
Linux has already overtaken macs
the ipod is a POS, expensive, limited,
other makers similar products are cheaper, have better screens, better
operating systems, more functionality

unfortunately other products dont have the cachet, by idiots to impress
other idiots.

Thanks for your positive feedback there almostbob. I have to say your help
has been invaluable. By the way my ipod was free, but as you point out its a
POS. Give me your address and I will come round insert it up your arse. at
least then I will feel that it has had some use.
