I just bought a 30g ipod. Although it works on my USB 1.1 port, apple told
me that If I continue to use the USB 1.1 it will burn out my ipod and that I
needed a USB 2.0 port. So I went out and bought a USB 2.0 notebook card for
my Dell Inspiron 2650 Laptop. After trying three dfferent brands, I have
given up. Can anyone tell me why the ipod freezes the computer when
connected to a USB 2.0 card? I have been told that it may have a conflict
with Windows XP but Apple says it has never had anyone with this problem....
Can any one help? Thanks.

Burn out an iPod using USB1(.1) - not likely but would be a nice
addition to the Tech Support BS Hall-of-Fame for idiotic statements.

A USB 2.0 PC Card should auto enumerate and use native drivers.
You probably need to expand the view options of Device Manager
and remove/check Other and unknown devices.

hanks for your reply. What is "auto enumerate?" How does one expand the view
options of Device Manager? And does one both remove and check unknown and
other devices at the same time? (Unclear from your message...) Thank you.
