ipconfig when not on network

On NT4, ipconfig/all would show the IP address of
my network card. This also would allow me to run software
licensed by the hostname and address.

On Win2k server, when I'm unplugged, I get 0.0.0.0
which means my licensed software fails.

Is there a workaround for this issue? I really don't want
to buy two license keys (one when I'm on the network; one
when I'm off it)

Thanks in advance -

Are you sure that your application uses ipconfig.exe to

I doubt his application calls ipconfig. It may run a service on a
local port. Best solution would be installing the loopback driver and
assigning an ip to that.

Good one. Unfortunately it may not do the trick for
the OP - the item refers specifically to DHCP clients.
I tried it with a fixed IP address, and it seemed to
have no effect on media sensing, even after a reboot.
I note that KB Article 239924 says that it should even
work on a non-DHCP client. Curious.
