Lose network connection on new cluster

I have a 2 node windows 2003 cluster connected as member servers to a 2000 domain running active directory
Running tests on it it seems to fail over ok, but when the first node is booted up the network connection always fails. Ipconfig shows 0.0.0.0
If you then boot up the second node it will connect, and reboot the first . It seems to work
Previously it has been intermitent but always showing 0.0.0.0 on the network card cluster address
Both ip address's are static and i'm sure nothing else is using them.

Any help would be grateful.

Check the NIC drivers...especially if they're Broadcomm NICs.

Experience...seen a bunch of issues with Broadcom NICs, particularly when
you have more than one NIC installed on the host (which happens in all
clusters). Check with the server manufacturer for latest/greatest
drivers...these typically won't come from Windows update.
