Problem Description:
I have had a problem with not getting to the internet after uninstalling
Mcafee Privacy Service. All I get is a 0.0.0.0 IP all other computers
are reaching the internet find through this router. I have installed
the winsock fix ran all suggestions by Mcafee support. Tried to
release the ip and it says it can't because it can't find the file. I
have ran the netsh interface reset all and stil cannot renew the ip
using ipconfig /renew.
DHCP TCP/IP BT services do not start and will not start when triggered
says a service dependancy failer but all of the dependent services are
off and can't be started.

I don't want to reinstall xp because the computer came with it preloaded and
no cd's I was informed by the manufacturer that I would have to buy retail
copy. Please advise me as to what to do.... thanks

If you used Windows Add/Remove programs to uninstall McAfee, try:

Re-install McAfee and use the McAfee uninstaller.

more info: here is one error in the log... what device may it be???

The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service depends on the Net Bios over Tcpip service
which failed t start because of the following error: A device attached to the
system is not functioning properly.

I am unabel reinstall Mcafee from the apps cd and If you download a trial
from the internet you can only load it on the system that downloaded it.
Please help

I figured it out, this is strange... The AFD.SYS driver was corrupt. Copy
the one from i386 folder into the drivers directory and it worked everything
started correctly NetBt, dhcp etc. and I was able to get an IP from my
router. Thanks for your help!!!
