TCP/IP configuration/Network Adapter

Viegas

Hi all,

I just aquired a windows xp x64 professional edition setup disc and
installed it on a 64bits machine. After the installation of the OS and all the
drivers needed i realized i had no internet connection. Gone to Run-cmd and
typed ipconfig, returned:
"An internal error ocurred: The request is not suported.
Aditional info: Unable to query host name"

After this i typed netdiag and it returned:
"(232)[Fatal] Cannot find TCP/IP configuration from the registry"

Gone to network connections-local area connection-properties and uninstalled
all items (even Internet Protocol TCP/IP by changing the reference 0xa0 to
0x80 in the nettcp.inf, then installed with have disk option, thus offering
the possibility to uninstall this protocol), rebooted the system, i reverse
nettcp.inf to its original state and deleted tcp/IP and winsock/winsock2
entries from registry(section HKLM-SYSTEM-CurrentControlSet-Services) and
reinstalled TCP/IP protocol and all other items, rebooted again but with no
efect.

Can anyone help me please? I'm desperate.....

Go to Device Manager and see if the network adapter installed
correctly. You might have to go to the manufacturer's web site and
find a driver program that works with XP 64-bit.
