IP Address CONFLICT Xbox 360 and MCE 2005 PC

The Xbox 360 and the media centre edition 2005 PC are connected by the Xbox
360 ethernet cable. When I test the media connection which is an option on
the Xbox 360 dashboard, it manages to detect that the connection is wired,
the IP address, selected PC but fails to pick up the "PC connection". In
addition, an IP address conflict windows notification appears.

If the 360 is like other computers you can't connect it directly to
another computer with a regular Ethernet cable. You either have to use a
crossover cable (two computer network ONLY) or two regular Ethernet
cables and a switch (a router includes a switch). Connect one cable
between the computer and the switch and the remaining cable between the
360 and the switch. The switch/router should have a separate connection
for the cable that connects to the DSL, Cable or other broadband modem.

You could also use a hub; you don't have to have a switch. They are
not the same, after all.
