Invalid System Disk ( long post )

Jack Mc Kenna

I have just put together a new system to replace an older one. System as
follows:
Gigabyte GA-M55PLUS
AMD 64X2 dual core 4600+
300 GB Sata II HD
400 GB Sata II HD
2 GB PC4200 DDR2 533 dual channel
ATI Radeon x1900XT 512 MB PC!-Ex 16x dual head
18x DVR Dual Layer Combo
16x DVD, 48x CDRW
3.5 Floppy
250 MB Zip Drive
Sound Blaster Live audio card

Installed Win XP Pro slipstreamed to SP2, and everything worked perfectily.
Installed all the necessary drivers for video and sound, printer, network
card, etc. After many reboots all worked well. Then went to windows update,
and downloaded all updates and WGA files and rebooted.
Once again all was fine. The next time I booted up I received a "Invalid
System Disk Replace the disk and hit any key" Hit a key and windows boots
up from my HD. Checked the bios boot settings and no matter what order I set
it still boots to the Invalid announcement. My windows CD is a valiid disk,
passed the WGA check, and has been used on two earlier machines. This is
the only computer I have XP Pro on. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

Have you tried running FIXBOOT or FIXMBR from Windows Installation CD
Recovery mode?
