Internet time will not work

FireBrick

For some reason, none of my computers on my home LAN will sync the time to
either:
Time.nist.gov
"An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with time.nist.gov.

or
time.windows.com
"An error occurred while Windows was synchronizing with
tie.windows.com. The time sample wa rejected because: The peer's
stratum is less than the host's stratum.

Consequently i can't sync my computers and I don't understand either of the
error messages.

I get the same responses on all the computers on my home LAN even though all
other internet functions seem to work normally.
I have comcast and normally see a speed of 3mb.

Anybody have a idea?

Please and thank you.

The big question is, why are you using those servers? Neither is especially
good nor especially reliable because of the heavy load they are under (hint:
every bloody XP installation in the world defaults to them). Why not try an
NTP server in your own neighborhood? Personally, I use "rolex.usg.edu" but
everyone should use one close to your geographic location. There are several
lists of public NTP servers with
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/servers.html being one of the better
ones. Simply pick a "stratum 2" server close to home and plug it into the
list and you should be good to go.

This seems to happen every time there is a change to/from Daylight Savings
time. No biggie it will clear up by itself in a day or two, in the mean time
a few seconds one way or the other will not make any difference.

Both of those servers have always had problems especially at daylight saving
time changes. Go with a dependable server----TOCK.USNO.NAVY.MIL That will be
the end of your sync problems.
