Go to START>CTRL PANEL>ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS>ADD?REMOVE
WINDOWS COMPONENTS> uncheck Internet
Explorer...restart...follow same path and this time CHECK
Internet Explorer, restart....This should cleanly
reinstall the IE from your OS. If you are using a copy of
IE provided by your specific ISP (Yahoo DSL for example)
Those functions are removed to keep you going to the same
home page and the decision is yourson whether you continue
to use that browser. Otherwise it sounds like

a) you don't have admin priviledges
b) you've been hijacked

The clean install should fix this problem provided you
have enough rights to add remove programs.

P.S. Do yourself a favor and download a copy of the latest
IE from Microsoft and don't install untill you follow the
directions above. This is a precaution in case your OS
version of IE is not present when it attempts to reinstall
which would definitely point toward hijacking of some sort.

Hope this helps.
