internet not responding

when i am on the internet , i am frustrated by the programmes not responding
.. i have to shut down all the time . it happens when i open new windows and
then close them , the programme i am on previously then does not respond ,
it happen sall the time . i am on xp , i was told i am short of ram , and
need to reboot my computer , but , it was all fine until about a month ago ,
any ideas , i am also computer illiterate on technical side.

Although you didn't mention details about your IE version and you are in the
Wrong group but here it goes:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click OK to close the IE properties.

2... You need to be sure your system is clean from malwares and Viruses by
scanning for them.

3- You can test your memory by running Memtest to be sure the memory are
Okay and also less than 256 not enough it will be better if you have 512 MBs
if you have a hungry applications.

Please perform step (1,2,3) one at a time and reboot your computer and see
if the issue been resolved.
