I have a Compaq Presario with Internet Keyboard and all of a sudden I am NOT
able to use the Special Keyboard Buttons. Infact the buttons do NOT appear
in the Keyboard Properties!
What is to be done? I shall be thankful for suggestions.

Reinstall your keyboard software. Visit:

It doesn't seem to work. I can't even find the buttons after downloading and
installing an updated driver for the keyboard! By the way the Help & Support
says as under but I can't find the BUTTONS TAB! Where do I find it?

How do I change the Connect button?
To change the Web site opened by the Connect button on your keyboard:

1.. Click Start on the taskbar.
2.. Click Control Panel.
3.. Click Printers and Other Hardware, if present.
4.. Double-click Keyboard. The Keyboard Properties window opens.
5.. Click the Buttons tab.
6.. Double-click Connect in the list of buttons. You may have to scroll
down the list to see Connect. A window opens with the button settings.
7.. Click the button capability drop-down list and choose Simple web page
with label.
8.. Type the complete Web site address (for example, http://www.hp.com)
into the Address box.
9.. Click OK.
10.. Click Apply.
11.. Click OK.

I can't get another computer! Isn't there an other solution???

Take your keyboard to a local computer repair shop. They will hook up
the keyboard to one of their computers and test it. You can't test the
keyboard without putting it on another machine. That way you'll know if
the keyboard is broken or there is a problem with your Windows
installation.

What other way could there be? There is no magic solution - you have to
troubleshoot by testing and the process of elimination.

I agree, but I would like to tell you that when I did a System Restore
to18th April, the Special Keyboard Buttons work though it cannot be seen in
the Keyboard Properties! So, obviously, some thing has corrupted the driver
or software on 19th April. Hence, I thought that it could be corrected
without having to take it to a vendor.

Well, you didn't say so in any of your previous posts so no one trying
to help you knew that. Since we can't see your computer, you'll have to
figure out what changed between April 18th and April 19th.

Did you download and install the correct driver? If you followed the link in
Carey Frisch's post and entered "internet keyboard" in the searchbox, you are
taken to a download page for a driver for "hp vectra and e-pcs, hp USB internet
keyboard (C4768A)." Compaq is now hp, but it's not clear to me that a Presario
is the same as a vectra or an e-pc. And do you have a USB or PS/2 keyboard?
See http://tinyurl.com/qh968

Also try http://tinyurl.com/ld4gc which is a link to "Frequently Asked
Questions for HP Pavilion & Presario Desktop PC's" including "8: Why is my
internet keyboard not working correctly?"

Make sure you search for a driver using either the keyboard's model number (if
you can determine it) or your computer's model number. It's not always easy to
find things on the hp support site, but your keyboard probably won't work
correctly unless you use the correct driver.

I am NOT able to figure out as to what changed in my computer between 18th &
19th. If I did, I wouldn't have submitted a query to Newsgroup!

As to Lem's comments, it is a Compaq PS2 keyboard (2K-3) in Compaq Presario
SR1155IN with Microsoft Windows XP and Service Pack 2. I went into the TWO
suggested Websites. From the first site, I installed the suggested Driver
sp26593sp.exe and it did NOT work. From the second site, question 8 led me
to Hardware Information & Problem Solving and this in turn led me to
Keyboard Troubleshooting. I did ALL that was suggested viz., Deleted
Keyboard Device Drivers, Deleted Keyboard Software and then Installed the
latest Keyboard Driver but it is in vain!
I still can't get to see the Buttons in the Keyboard Properties for me to
configure. That is what is bothering me - though at the moment I am using
the Special Keyboard Buttons having done a System Restore to April 18th!
