I am missing something obvious here. I have just installed a dial up
connection on an old laptop and evn though I am connected to the internet, as
I get the bubble telling me that, IE and OE cannot see the connection. I have
been into Tools on IE and in Internet Options / Connections I have Never dial
a connection pipped is this correct. If not then can you suggest how to get
these two programs to see the connection?
Thanks
Charlie

Robert I think my ignorance and grey hair is showing through. I am not on a
network but trying to just connect direct to my ISP. This I can do as I get
the connected bubble in the right corner but neither OE or IE can see this
connection. Sorry if I have come to the wrong section?
Thanks

So are you connected through a Modem or ISDN?.
Try this;
Open a Run command and type in:
CMD.exe click [OK] and on the new prompt command type this:
ipconfig /flushdns (Note the space between ipconfig_/) Hit Enter on your
Keyboard then type this in the new prompt command:
ipconfig /release or renew (type both) then Hit Enter after each command.
On the new prompt command type this:
netsh winsock reset Hit Enter then Type Exit to close the command prompt
window.
Reboot your machine and try to connect.
If the above didn't help then lease provide more info as we can't see your
machine and what type of connections/settings you have, so more info about
the Settings, Anti-virus you are using and application, operating system and
is it a new Connection or you have been able to connect before?.
HTH.
Let us know.
