Computer keeps trying to dial a connection

I have a laptop working on wireless, and linking to the internet by
broadband. Whenever I open Outlook for email, or Internet Explorer, the
programme keeps trying to dial a connection, even though broadband is
connected. Sometimes it tries to dial even though I do not have Outlook or IE
open.

I have gone through every screen I can find to try to stop this, but to no
avail.

I use a dial-up connection when I am away, connecting through my mobile with
bluetooth. It is this connection that it keeps trying to dial.

How can I stop this happening, but not lose the bluetooth option?

Thanks

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections,
and select "Never dial a connection".

Have you tried IE\Tools\Internet Options select Connections and select 'Never
dial a connectio' ?

Many thanks, Victor. Yes, I have tried this, to no avail. I have been to
almost every screen that I can find in IE and Outlook, but simply cannot stop
the computer trying to dial.

I have been poking around in the Registry trying to find something
suspicious, but as I am reluctant to change things I do not know about, I
have not solved the problem this way either.

Thanks anyway

Thanks for this. See my reply to Victor. I think I may have to re-install
Outlook (I think this program is the problem), but in the meanwhile I can
over-ride my frustration.
