I origionally used the Internet Explorer that came with my Windows 98SE CD.
When I downloaded the upgrade to Internet Explorer 6 my problems seemed to
start.

First when I go to certain webpages I get the message that Internet Explorer
has made an illegal operation or something like that and that it is going to
shut down.
I then down loaded the latest Netscape and it runs fine.

Today I have a new problem. When I make changes to banners on my web site,
Netscape sees all my changes in the banners whether directily off my hard
drive or off the server. When I use my Internet Explorer I can see the
banners by opening the file of my webpage off the hard drive. But when I
view the same page from the server for my web page, the banners are not
there. I have had two other people view my web page using Internet Explorer
and they have no problem seeing the banners.

The version of Internet Explorer 6 is 6.0.2880.1160

I never heard of an IE with that version number.

For the second problem go to Tools | Internet Options and click the Delete
Files button. On the next screen check the box to Delete all offline
content.

For the first problem eliminate any scumware.
What You Should Know About Spyware
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/devioussoftware.mspx

CAUTION!!!!! Before you try to remove spyware using any of these programs ,
download a copy of LSPFIX from any of the following sites:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
(if your OS is Win2k or XP) The process of removing certain malware may kill
your internet connection. If this should occur, this program, LSPFIX, will
enable you to regain your connection.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:
