Recently I've experienced a problem when typing a web
address into the address bar on Internet Explorer. After
I type in the address and press go, an additional address
is added on to the front the address I type in. A banner
appears at the top of the page, and the page I wanted to
browse to appears below the banner. this does not happen
when I first open IE, or if I browse to a page using my
favorite list. I also noticed that on my Tool dropdown
menu there are links associated with the banner page.
They are trying to sell mortgages, a site called Play
Poker.com, and some other products I have little interest
in. How can I get rid of this crap?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to

Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
