Requires multiple clicks of Back arrow to return to previous page

Several months ago (not sure exactly when), my browser started
requiring multiple clicks of the back arrow to return to previous page.
How it used to work (and on any other computer I use) is that when you
are on a web page and click the Back arrow on the browser toolbar, it
is suppossed to return to the previous page.

Currently, with each click of the back arrow, it removes banner ads
and/or pictures one at a time and then finally return to the previous
page. It does not do this with every banner ad or pic, so it appear
that is a certian type that is loaded when the page loads. It does
this all the time so I'm sure it is either a setting on my IE or
possibly my Norton Internet Security 2006.

Any help would be appreciated!
