Internet Exploreras Default

Where do you define the IE6 to be your default browser. I have found it in
the Internet properties and made sure the box at the bottom to check to make
sure IE ismy browser is checked. I also found it in the add/remove programs
at the bottom under set defaults. My browser window does not automatically
open when I connect to the internet. Are there any other places when IE is
defined as the default that I can check? I have XPSP2 Thank You

Hi Old Bob :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

For WinXP SP1 and above, you can use the "Set Program Access and Defaults"
feature.

Other options:

Tip #41: Setting Internet Explorer as the default browser
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFAQ.htm#IE_Default

or……

Try this:
Open IE | Tools | Internet Options | Programs tab | make sure
"Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" is
CHECKED.
Press Ok, and when you next run IE, a confirmation
dialog box should appear asking you whether you want it to be the
default browser again. Click Yes.

Hope this helps.

How are you connecting to the Internet in the first place? Are you
clicking on the Internet Explorer icon, and then it doesn't log onto the
internet, or are you clicking your ISP's Dial-up connection, and then
expect Internet Explorer to automatically start? If it is the latter,
then it doesn't work that way. If your system is set up correctly,
simply open Internet Explorer, and it should connect to the net
automatically. If it doesn't, click on Tools > Internet Options >
Connections Tab > Click once on your listed ISP connection > Put a Check
next to "Always dial my default connection" > Press the "Set Default"
button if it is not already greyed out. > Apply/OK out of the menu.
