Recently I have not been able to change my homepage for Internet Explorer.
It always returns to the same site.

I also have a problem in that every time I open Internet Explorer it goes to
windows update.

I cannot find out how to correct either problem.

I use Ad-Aware and Trend Micro PCcillin Internet security and I keep both up
to day. I scan daily.

Is the site that IE goes to a legitimate one? Perhaps you have some sort
of IE homepage protection in place from PCcillin or another antispyware
program like Spybot Search & Destroy. If the homepage is not a
legitimate one, then follow these steps for malware removal:

Is your computer current with all Windows Updates? What level Service
Pack is applied?

It does sound like a Spyware thing (of one sort or another), it could be a
piece of spyware setting your setting's (if dodgy site keeps getting set),
however you say it defaults to windowsupdate, so it maybe the anti spyware
reseting the setting. Check the options in that to make sure you have set the
homepage to whatever you want it to be. you may have to disable that part of
the anti spyware then change it, then turn that part back on.

Have not used Ad-Aware for a while now so can't really say. MS Antispyware
is very good now, give it a go if you have no luck
