Recently nternet Explorer sends a message saying it has enclountered a
problem then closes down whatever prog I am using. I use XP Home Edition
SP1. and IE 6.00...........It is driving me nuts ))))

You need to perform some basic troubleshooting steps so we have something to
go on.

1. Go to Start/Run and type: eventvwr.msc and press OK. This will open
the Event Viewer. Click the Applications item on the left side. On the right
side, look for any "X" error messages that may be displayed. Double click
the error entry to see the details. The specific module causing the error
will be shown there. You can click the Copy icon in the details dialog box
to copy the entire details of the error to the clipboard and paste it into a
reply here.

2. Go to Start/Run and type: msinfo32 and press OK. Click on
Components/Problem Devices to see any hardware that may be having problems.
Click on Software Environment/Windows Error Reporting to see any possible
conflicts and or error messages.

I have been having the same problems as well. I conducted a complete installation of Win XP from scratch and went through step by step on all the updates etc. I checked the event viewer and here is what the most recent error was:

Thanks for you assistance. However, I looked through the various links at
the bottom of your link looking for a fix. I did adjust the automatic updater
but after attempting to start a game I play it crashed with the following

I hope we can sort this since the frustration is way over the top at this
point. I've been plagued with these problems for past 2 weeks. I've replaced
my MB twice thinking it was a hardware problem and reformatted my hard drive
3 times with clean installs of Win XP.

Difficult to sort when each crash refers to a different program or file
component. You definitely have something going on there. Can you remember
what was done to the system, 2 weeks ago, just prior to these problems
appearing? This could go a long way in determining the cause. Performing a
clean install that many times and not resolving the problem, simply means
that whatever is causing these issues is being added back to the system
after the re-installs.

Well Ron I'm thinking the issues started when I loaded System Mechanic 2005 on there. When I would do a cleaning of files and registry it seemed the issues would start there. So, yesterday I booted from the WinXp CD and conducted a fresh enstall of windows and did not do this. However, after completeing all the various windows updates and loading Windows Word 2000 started getting these error messages. So here I am now trying to figure out what I'm doing or what program or update is causing this.

I greatly appreciate your assistance!!
