Internet Explorer won't display certain links

I'm really confused.

If i click on a thumb nail on a site it loads a window to display the
enlargment but its blank.

The same as when i tried to post a link here on the web based fourm. It
loads a window but nothing appears.

I've noticed that the icon it displays in the taskbar is slightly different
to normal browser window one.

I really don't understand why this is happening, its very frustrating could
some one please help.

I fear you won't get any replies, because it is too difficult to
find out from your message what exactly you are doing.

I would recommend to try to describe exactly one example that
fails.
