I canot open IE 6. The problem started originally with IE
5.5 so we thought that we would try to download IE 6 to
see if that was the problem, it did'nt fix it. What
happens is we click on the icon and immediately get
the "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem
and needs to close...." without the browser launching at
all. If you go through the reporting process and send the
error message, the error message just reappears without
the browser loading. The following exception information
is given: code - 0xc00000fd, flags 0x000000000, record -
0x0000000000000000, address - 0x0000000068006fa0. I do not
know if this helps. We are running Windows 98. Thank you
very much.

Your orginal problem might have been spyware. Many of those parasites are
quit buggy and can make IE to crash. Get spyware scanner and check. You
could try for example Ad-Aware or Spybot.

Thanks for the reply, I should have mentioned in the
original message that we do run both Spybot and Ad-Aware
on a regular basis and have ran both several times since
the problem has begun. Still no internet explorer. We are
able to use our Yahoo to access the internet but we prefer
IE plus it has a lot of our bookmarks that we cannot
access. Again thank you. Chuck
