Internet Explorer malfunction

I have not been able to open Microsoft Explorer for quite
some time, approximately 2 months. Every time I left
click on the icon, I get a message from Microsoft stating
that there is an error with the program along with the
prompt to either send a message to Microsoft or not. How
can I reinstate my Explorer so I can use it. I used it
on a daily basis up until February (or so) until this
malfunction began to recur. Not being able to open this
makes no sense. Do I need a new version of Explorer?

Do you mean Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer ('Microsoft Explorer' is
ambiguous)

If the former, have you downloaded all the updates from microsoft windows
update and have you tried downloading a new version? You can do this by
getting hold of a browser on one of the AOL or similar disks and
downloading. Or maybe junk explorer and use something like Opera, Netscape
or Firefox.

Have you also done full virus scans?
