Internet Explorer is driving me CRAZY! HELP Please!!!!

L

Lisa

I currently use the MSN explorer and am very happy with
the service of it, but these pop-up ads in the internet
explorer keep popping up in extreme. Like between 9 and
11 each time and when this happens it locks my system up
completely. I have to end up shutting it down and
starting all over again. It is really annoying. I've been
searching for a way to uninstall the internet explorer
all together since I never use it anyway, but I can't
seem to figure how to do that. It is not in my add/remove
program. By the way, I have Windows XP on my computer.
Please, if anyone can give me a helpful hint on what I
need to do, I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Lisa

Hi Lisa,

First, you cannot remove Internet Explorer, it is an integrated part of the
Operating System. To block popups, there are many third-party solutions
available. I use the google toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com), but you can
pretty well stop them without installing anything. Please read:

Ok, when the pop up first start up get ready to hold down the Alt button and repeatedly hit the F4 button as fast as you can until the popups stop. If you get that far, got to http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download and download spybot search and destroy v.1.2 and install and run it. It's a little advanced but can be set up for intermediate users. This will search your computer for spyware and get rid of it. Then you will need to look into a popup blocker. There are many appearing lately and if you have the latest MSN 8 I think it should have one along with it ??? What version of MSN Explorer do you have???

Actually you CAN uninstall Internet Explorer. This was a result of the
Federal lawsuit. Go to Add/Remove Programs, then go to Add/Remove Windows
Components and you will find Internet Explorer.

Hi Dave,

No, you can't. That entry simply hides it for users who do not wish to see
it. It is not actually removed from the system.
