internet explorer cannot download xxxx from xxxx

I am running internet explorer 6 with sp2 on a windows xp machine. i have
recently started using this computer again after being away for some time and
to my surprise i am unable to download many attachments from hotmail (jpeg
seems fine). I get the error message:

Internet Explorer cannot download xxxxx from 64.4.61.250
Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested
site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

I have recently installed a linksys wireless network router. Both pc's are
experiencing the same problem. I have been trawling through the internet
trying to find a solution for the last few hours but it seems many people
have experienced this error message over the years, and there seems to be
many different solutions, none of which seem to work. Can anyone help or
point me in the right direction?

Hi,
Have you bypassed the router to see if it's the problem?

Try...
Turn on the Windows Firewall (from Control Panel or Security Center) and
disable the third-party firewall (if running) and other third-party
security, privacy, ad-blocking programs to see if one of them is causing
this.

Other possibilities- see if there's anything you haven't tried ;-)

that is happening because when you signed into Hotmail you selected
"Always ask for my e-mail address and password". select remember e-mail
and it will work fine, just had the same problem with a client and
that's how I was able to fix it for him.

EMAIL I RECEIVED FROM HOTMAIL...
(i tried this and it didn't work but if i sign up for a new account with
hotmail, i have no problems. this happens on three seperate computers, so the
problem seems to be with my old hotmail account only)

I just wanted to let you all know that I have had the same problem for a
while. I have tried so many other ways of trying to solve it, but selecting
"remember e-mail" seems to have done the trick. I agree also that the
Hotmail technical support suggestion did not work.

Hope this helps others.
