Hi Guys
I have a dialup modem for internet.
Running XP
When i click on my home page or outlook express it dials the net like it is
supposed to,and says it is on the internet, but it will not load my home page
, just says finding site, then it wii come up and say page not found.
When i do the outlook express it says finding host, but never will, comes up
with this error message,
(pop3.port 110.secure.(ssl):no.socketerror:1101 error number 0x00ccc0D.)
If i just close the internet connection and redial it will come up and work
normal.
Dosen't always do this ,but at least half the time.
It has been doing thios for a couple months now.
I have reinstalled windows a couple different times,I have tried 3 different
modems.
Nothing seams to help.
Does this sound like MY computer problem or my isp problem,i have called
them a couple times but they apear to be a bunch of idiots.
They have had me reinstall internet explorer and outlook express, messed
around with my internet setting, all to no avail.
So i am here hopeing someone can help me out.
Thank you

You haven't mentioned the obvious first checks- virus and spyware. Have you
checked? What programs did you use, are they updated?

Firewall? Have you tried disabling it then accessing those programs? What
happened?

Have you checked the connections set in the programs with your ISP? Do they
have install utilities to set them up? Have you ran them?

Perform the following steps in XP SP2 if you get the above message when
trying to activate its new firewall.

1) Reset the Winsock.
a) Go to the command prompt.
b) Type the command "Netsh winsock reset" (without the quotes), and press
ENTER.
c) This won't take effect until you re-boot

2) Install and run a spyware-removal program.
Some spyware damage the winsock which causes such symptoms.
Spybot Search & Destroy, Lavasoft's Ad-Aware, SpywareBlaster, CWShredder,

Download the programs and update them before the first scan.
all programs are available there in the same page.

If you can access mail and newsgroups through Outlook Express the IP is not
the problem. Try the KB314067 article option to determine if you indeed have
a connection.

You may need to reset the Internet connection if any of the next does not
help. I would delete the Internet Connection in Control Panel\Network
Connections and create a new connection with Start\Run\inetwiz

This is another way to repair the winsock2 but editing the registry keys is
involved. If you want to try this option backup the winsock keys by right
clicking on the winsock key and selecting Export.

Or download LSP-Fix.. No installation is required just run it and delete
what appear on the right side panel (if anything appears) just use it once,
(or maybe twice) as repeated use can make things worse.

Use this option to determine if you have a connection and where you can look
for the problem.

Either a poor ISP or inferior POT line.
